A Quick Overview Of Guinness
Guinness is a brand of stout. It is a dark beer made using malted barley, hops, water which comes from springs in the Wicklow mountains (which is considered so important that the company refers to it as ‘liquor’), and a strain of yeast descended from the time of the original brewer. It is named after Arthur Guinness who started the St James’s Gate Brewery in Dublin in 1759.
There is a rumor that Guinness was discovered after a brewmaster burned a batch of barley, but it seems it's actually descended from an old style of beer called 'Porter' - Arthur Guiness noted the popularity of Porter and decided to try his hand at making it.
