A Quick Overview Of Crillon
The 'Hôtel de Crillon', situated on the Champs Elysées, is one of the oldest hotels in Paris. It was originally built as a palace commissioned by Louis XV in the 18th century. In 1788, the Count of Crillon acquired the palace, but it was seized during the French Revolution. The Crillon is built on the Place de la Concorde, which is where the king, Queen Marie-Antoinette and other nobles and royals were executed by guillotine.
After the French Revolution, the palace was restored to its owners who sold it. The purchaser intended to turn it into 'the greatest luxury hotel in Paris', and this fine hotel opened its doors on 12 March 1909. The Crillon has more historical connections: The French-American Treaty which recognized the Act of Independence of the United States was signed here on February 6th 1778.
